Home Security Monitoring Technology Taken To Another Level
In a press release issued by ADT home security system company on Wednesday, it was revealed that technological advances have made it possible for homeowners to afford and install the same high-level remote-viewing security access in for their homes that was once strictly the province of businesses and the extremely wealthy.
Home security systems have come a long way over the last 10 years.
This journalist remembers when he was an account executive and, briefly, a manager for a wireless, computerized home security system company in the late 1990s. In those ancient days, a computerized security system that had wireless components and did not need to check on your house by making a telephone call -- it was a direct feed from an independent monitoring station -- was an advanced piece of security technology that seemed like something out of Star Wars.
The windows did not need to be wired as they did for all other home security systems offered in those days. They were watched by wireless contacts. Wireless motion detectors, strategically placed, looked at the doors and main passageways of the home. If any unusual movement was detected in the home-or if the electronically advanced smoke detector went off-a professional monitor spoke directly through a speaker in the wall-mounted unit.
The homeowner could talk back to the unit. The security components could be remote-controlled.
As exciting as those state of the art security measures were in those far-off days of less than a decade ago, the newly developed system that is now being offered by ADT is even more so.
Now, professionally installed video cameras in one's home can let one look around or inside of one's home from virtually anywhere, anytime. And as one might expect in this day and age, the system interacts with the Internet.
The new system is called Safewatch Videoview.
"Homeowners are discovering that motion-sensing cameras can make busy lifestyles a little easier by providing customers with e-mail notifications of triggered events and the ability to look in on their homes at any time. All they need is an Internet connection to log on to an encrypted and secure, password-protected Web site, which can be accessed even through a corporate firewall. Only the customer can access the cameras and view the live or recorded video. They have total control of the system, " said Tim McKinney, director of ADT's Custom Home Services, in the press release.
"Working with ADT, homeowners can customize the video service by predefining events that will trigger cameras to record video and then save it to be viewed by the customer, and only the customer, at a later time, " McKinney added.

what are cheap tricks in figuring out who is robbing you?
Our house was broken into, now apparently several times, and although no computers or consoles or tvs were taken furniture and towels and notebooks and other somewhat small stuff was. first we noticed towels going missing. Later we had important papers all over the house. Later our 40 plus notebooks we got this year are gone besides 8. I am not using that many notebooks in under a year as a sophmore. Today our chairs were swapped for chairs that looked alike as in the color scheme, but not design or comfort. My sister takes what she wants be the problem is that she doesn't have the keys to both of the doors to get in. Also we have a vulnerability but with the snow I looked for foot prints but none were around so somebody did this in front of the neighbors in the wide open. This person always leaves the screen door open and all of the lights on. The thing is that they take so little and stuff that doesn't mean so much to us that it takes a while for us to notice. The chair swap today was a joke really, but I fear if these people are working there way up in what they are stealing whats next? I have many things I cherish in the house I wouldn't want broken or taken and stuff I have put a lot of time and effort into that somebody might take.
What can I do to find these people. For some reason my mom won't contact the police. What are some tricks and tips I can do to keep my stuff safe or find out who is doing this. I have NO money I have a camera and a computer but I have no clue how to have continuous recording to a computer. The thing I don't get is how the hell somebody in the middle of the night while we are all home sleeping got in and swapped our chairs. these people are coming from the front of the house not the back. the neighbors must have seen them as the front is easily seen. We have caught a man snooping around the house in the summer so I know for some reason people see our house as a target.
Also getting an ADT security post won't do a thing as the person appears to come regularly how is a post going to stop them now?
I think I will screw down some windows as those were a concern. Also I know nothing about the neighbors besides that they are drug dealers. I also do not know of any disagreements because it's my mom who makes the enemies not me. I like the idea of hiring a security camera but my mom hasn't been employed in a year and has 2 maxed credit cards and is still in the middle of a divorce I have no money for anything, even 1 dollar is hard for me to come by. The only thing I find strange is that the person knew what the chairs looked like and swapped them. and did it while I was sleeping last night. HOW THE HELL DO THEY DO IT!?!?!?!
